Keeping up with Read Raw

A week late, but never mind. Three quarters of Read Raw ventured to Perth last Saturday for the Ajay Close Memorial Open Mic thang, without a microphone, which was fun. Somehow, I ended up being first reader followed by Mo, and Wullie, or was it Wullie and Mo?  "The Cutting Edge of Art" went down well, and we were even invited to go up for a second time. Fortunately for the Perthlings, my printer ran out of ink just before we left home so I only entertained them with two poems - "Grandmother" and "Who Was that Masked Woman?" It was a good night, dinner in "The Quality Cafe" before the event, and  -0.5 degrees on the dashboard as we left. Here comes winter.

And all of Read Raw hit last Thursday's "St.Mungo's Mirrorball" in Glasgow to join a packed house (with a few celebs in the audience) to hear readings from Tom Pow, Sandy Hutchison and Alan Raich. As ever, the event was run slickly by Jim Carruth, despite the last minute change of venue, and he didn't even mention winning the McCash poetry prize once, now that's class.
