Poems Poems Everywhere

Got back from St.Monans to find I'd sold four poems - "A Pressing Question" to "Alien Skin," "The Golem's Touch" to "Dreams and Nightmares", "Calling the Past" to "Midnight Street", and "The Stone Bearer" to "Dark Horizons", and speaking of the latter, I've just been asked to be their poetry editor, and accepted of course. On the poetry front, Linda and I went through to Edinburgh last Saturday for the opening night of the book festival to hear the Poet Laureate, Carol Anne Duffy, read. She started off in a Thatcher-like voice for "Weasel Words", then read a poem about the Iraq War Enquiry and sprinkled the evening with new poems and old poems from various collections, including some from "The World's Wife" and "Rapture". Quite possibly, the best poetry reading I have ever heard.

It's late and I've just put down first drafts of eight new poems on paper, all of varying degrees of quality - Read Rawers - get your knives out! It's Shredding Time!!!!!!
