HOLIDAY BOOKS - TAKEN AND BROUGHT BACK

Yes, it was the annual trip to the East Neuk of Fife to the same cottage in St. Monans to coincide with the Pittenweem Arts Festival. Following a trip to Transreal in Edinburgh, I took along Jeff Vandermeer's "The Third Bear", "Years Best SF 15", "Wireless" by Charlie Stross, and "Nebula Awards Showcase 2009" edited by Ellen Datlow, and a copy of "Black Static" 17.

The problem with St. Monans is that it's too close to St. Andrews which is packed with bookshops, there's even a big bookstall in the town square on Saturday's. The Arts Festival also included the Poetry Cafe event with six guest poets from the Aberdeen area, so I ended up bringing back another 13 books, including "The Oldie Annual 2010", "The Affinity Bridge" by George Mann, "Scott Pilgrim's Finest Hour" by Bryan Lee O'Malley, "Prince of Darkness" by Walter Ellis (a short novel inspired by the life of Miles Davis), and various poetry collections by T.S. Eliot, Rapunzel Wizard, Bernard Briggs, Knotbrook Taylor, Don Paterson, Robert Crawford, Luke Kennard, and two from Judith Taylor.

Another reading pile has been born.
